Harbor town Medemblik on the IJsselmeer

Medemblik has a rich history with plenty of ports to choose from.

It is a beautiful town (village) for sailors, with great entertainment options and numerous activities for both children and adults.

For example, there is a steam train that runs between Hoorn and Medemblik, an indoor swimming pool near the Regatta Center, various museums such as a Bakery Museum (great for kids; bake your own bread) and a Steam Museum, Radboud Castle and much more. Medemblik also has a pleasant shopping street right on the harbor and numerous atmospheric cafes and restaurants.

You can also enjoy the beach with adjacent nature reserve where you can enjoy walking or cycling.

The marinas of Medemblik

First of all, we have our home port; the Pekelharinghaven. You can reach this harbor by turning directly to port after entering Medemblik (just after Radboud Castle). This harbor is quietly located, right next to the center (2-4 minutes walk). It is a beautiful harbor with good facilities, and popular with children. The brine herring harbor has a small harbor shop in the harbor office for groceries and a bicycle rental. Tip for the children is the petting zoo which is located nearby, Radboud castle and the playground in the Emmapark right next to the harbour.
Showers are free and Wi-Fi is also available on the jetties.
The harbor master can be reached on tel. 06 12 335 841.

Another option is to lie down on the long quay, just in front of the restaurants and bars. It is especially cozy in the season at cafe Brakeboer! Do not be alarmed if a few boats come to lie next to you, this longitudinal quay is simply stacked with sailing yachts as long as the passage remains wide enough.
The harbor master sits at the harbor office in the middle of the longitudinal wall.

The last passer-by harbor is a little further, by sailing straight ahead, through the bridge, you arrive in the Westerhaven. Here are many good boxes with floating sanitary facilities. This harbor is a 3-minute walk from the shopping street and yet has a nice quiet area with some play equipment and grass for the children.
The harbor master can be reached on tel. 0227 54 1686 or VHF channel 9.
The bridge runs continuously in the season and you will never have to wait long for this.

The newest port is just outside the city; The Regatta Center.
This harbor has very extensive sanitary facilities, a playground for children and a good water sports shop.
The boxes are spacious to sail in and of course equipped with water and electricity. The port also has free Wi-Fi wireless internet.
A box can be booked on tel. 0227 547 781 or VHF 31. Or look at http://www.regattacenter.com/

There is also a lovely grand cafe with a restaurant overlooking the harbour.
The Regatta center is often home to many competitions. The famous Delta Lloyd regatta is sailed from here, and the KNWV also has an office there. In the season there is always something to do at this port.

You see, Medemblik is definitely worth a visit by sailing boat!
